This page lists every graveyard and its location by Parish within the three historical counties of Dumfriesshire (DFS), Kirkcudbrightshire (KKD) and Wigtownshire (WIG). Graveyards are shown as being Open or Closed meaning they are Open or Closed to new burials.
If using Google Maps insert the GPS location into the search window. By selecting the Satellite option you can zoom in to see an aerial view of the graveyards.
Another option is to use www.canmore.org.uk. Click on ZOOM TO above the map and the first item is OS National Grid Reference. Enter the full reference from the table below and click GO. You will get an Ordnance Survey Map of the location and you can zoom in/out as needed. Within the map is a Menu square. Start by selecting CANMORE and unselect the SEARCH RESULTS otherwise your view will be cluttered by every indexed site in your view. Then select AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY and select the box beside AERIAL 2004-2008. If you still need to see the OS text then change the Opacity slider. There are 2 useful tools, first the BOUNDARIES menu includes PARISH boundary which is useful for genealogy. The second useful tool is HISTORIC NLS MAPS which have 4 map sets including one for 1843-1882.
